Croatia has been on the map of top summer destinations for a while now but there’s a new spot on the map that everyone is talking about. 6km off Šibenik lies the island of Obonjan which for six weeks in summer has been transformed into a wellness and eco-festival. Each summer Obonjan will offer guests a good time festival vibe with a focus on wellness and relaxation.
Founded by the same people who are behind Outlook and Hideout Festival, Obonjan offers a stellar line up of DJ’s and live acts for guests to vibe out to throughout the six weeks including sets by DJ Shadow, Mathew Herbet, Gold Panda and performances by Kate Tempest and Roy Ayers. However it’s not all about the late nights. There are art installations, talks and workshops in a brilliantly programmed calendar of events and the focus is very much on taking things slow and appreciating the moment. You can chill out in the Zen Den with reiki sessions and deep tissue massages. There is creativity and wellness coaching as well as daily yoga and relaxation.
“Emphasis on wellbeing and ecology.”
Co-founder Dan Blackledge said, “Festivals do a good job of keeping people happy for a few days, but this is much more. It’s an evolution of the festival idea with all the things you love in one place in a beautiful natural setting. There’s an emphasis on wellbeing and ecology, and we want to encourage a real feeling of community – people can stay for as long as they like. I don’t want to say it’s the first of its kind, but I haven’t come across anything quite like it.”
With spots already getting booked up for 2017 we suggest you get your yurt booked while you can and look forward to some blissed out moments in a very special place.
