Festive Yeni Raki Table

The festive season has started and the best thing about it is getting together with your favorite people over a meal and some Yeni Raki. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the festivities and the time of year when everyone is more than happy to head out and have a good time. This is the time to unrush your world with your beloved one.

The Yeni Raki table is a well-known Turkish tradition centered around good food, good company and Yeni Raki. We suggest starting your festive season with your very own Yeni Raki table. In the lead up to Christmas day it has become popular to have a friends Christmas lunch where each person brings a different dish – a coming together of your closest friends who are often just as important as family. At Yeni Raki we think it’s important to focus on time to unrush your world, to take time out and really appreciate the small things, the quiet moments in life and the moments that money literally can’t buy. So in the lead up to the big day, why not get together with your closest friends and share an alternative Christmas meal around your Yeni Raki table.

If you’re on the side dishes here’s a great new recipe everyone is sure to love – just serve with Yeni Raki…

Sautéed Jerusalem artichokes with garlic and bay leaves

(Serves 4)
Ingredients
  • 5 medium sized Jerusalem artichokes
  • Olive oil
  • 2 few bay leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Splash white wine vinegar
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Peel the artichokes and cut them into chunks. Place them in an oiled frying pan and fry on a medium heat until golden on both sides, then add a few bay leaves, 2 cloves of garlic, finely sliced, a splash of white wine vinegar, some salt and pepper, and place a lid on top.

After about 20 to 25 minutes they will have softened, remove the lid and the bay leaves. Continue cooking for a couple of minutes to crisp the artichoke slices up one last time, then serve straight away.
